Elephants Only Sweat From Their Toes is the first chapter of the Animal Signal manga series written by Robinson Haruhara & illustrated by Taishi Tsutsui. It was released on June 7, 2026.
Plot
Chapter 1 starts off with Kokone leading Tsubasa to investigate why there has been a string of arsons, and if it's related to Anima or not. Tsubasa & Kokone are revealed to be apart of the Anima Control Center, a special agency dealing with anima related issues. Tsubasa said that they received a premonition that the arson anima will appear today where they are at. Kokone said that they got it from the Catfish Anima, and her premonitions are kinda hit or miss. Tsubasa responds that they can't afford to ignore it. Kokone says she'll look around, and asks Tsubasa to stay still. Kokone with her bat anima, and her Brain Wave Echolocation ability, tries to locate the enemy anima, however, she just reads Tsubasa's inner voice about how he loves animals so much. Kokone walks away, but Tsubasa in his inner voice starts stating facts about Elephants, such as how they only sweat from their toes. Tsubasa starts doing a quiz in his inner voice, and explains the answer. Kokone slowly gets interested by all of the facts Tsubasa says in his inner voice. Kokone completely forgot that she can only use her ability for 3 minutes a day, and she already spent 1 minute and 8 seconds on animal facts tsubasa said. Tsubasa goes to go check out a Wombat and Kokone follows, and Kokone wastes 1 minute there. While Kokone keeps following Tsubasa, Tsubasa says in his inner voice that she is really amazing because she's accomplished so much at her age, and that Tsubasa is also 16 like her. Tsubasa also says in his inner voice that he wants to be helpful to her, and Kokone gets emotional and says she didn't know he felt like that. Kokone gets motivation to get back to work but all of her 3 minutes is wasted. Kokone overheard a kid saying how a elephant kept flapping its ears, and Kokone rushed over to where the elephants were. Kokone and Tsubasa finally found the Anima User, and Tsubasa noticed that it was a Tuna anima. Kokone and Tsubasa defeat the Tuna Anima user, and Chapter 1 ends off with Kokone admiring Tsubasa, and saying that she'll steal the show next time.
